Balo African Safaris was born in Arusha, surrounded by the landscapes that inspire travellers from around the world. The Serengeti lies beyond the horizon. Kilimanjaro rises not far away. Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Lake Manyara and the road to Zanzibar all begin from here.

For us, Tanzania is not a destination on a map. It is home.

That is why every journey we create feels personal. We plan for couples, families, friends and private groups, but no two trips need to look the same. Some travellers want long days in the bush. My husband and I went on a 3 day Safari with Balo Safari. Our guide was Basso. He was absolutely the best! He was so knowledgeable and very personable. We had a lot of fun. I had a million questions which he answered patiently. We saw every animal there was to see over the course of 3 days except a rhino which I understand is very rare to find. The lodges we stayed in were excellent. I saw some beautiful table placemats that I wanted to purchase but they were not sold in any stores because they were designed by an artist.
