Five Days Through Tanzania’s Northern Safari Icons
Experience four of northern Tanzania’s most celebrated wildlife areas in one compact journey. Travel from the baobab country of Tarangire to the wildlife-filled Ngorongoro Crater, across the endless plains of the Serengeti and finally to the diverse landscapes of Lake Manyara.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Leave Arusha in the morning and drive to Tarangire National Park for your first day of game viewing. Explore a landscape shaped by ancient baobab trees, open savannah and the Tarangire River, which attracts a remarkable variety of wildlife.
Look out for elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo, zebra, antelope and abundant birdlife as you explore the park. Enjoy a picnic lunch during the day before continuing with an afternoon game drive.
Later, travel to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Tarangire to Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast, travel toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the crater for an unforgettable day of game viewing.
The Ngorongoro Crater supports one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Tanzania. Search for lions, elephants, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, hippos and, with luck, the endangered black rhino. Flamingos and other waterbirds can also be seen around the crater’s lakes and wetlands.
Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor before continuing your game drive and later ascending to your accommodation.

Day 3: Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, continue toward Serengeti National Park, enjoying changing scenery and wildlife sightings along the way.
Enter the famous Serengeti plains and spend the afternoon exploring this vast wilderness in search of lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo, wildebeest, gazelles and many other species.
The journey itself becomes part of the safari as the highlands gradually give way to the seemingly endless plains of the Serengeti.

Day 4: Serengeti to Lake Manyara
Begin the day with an early morning game drive in the Serengeti, when wildlife is often particularly active and the soft morning light transforms the plains.
Return for breakfast before beginning the journey toward Lake Manyara. Travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with an optional stop in the Olduvai Gorge region depending on your arrangements and timing.
Arrive near Lake Manyara later in the day and settle into your lodge or camp for a relaxed evening.

Day 5: Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha
After breakfast, enter Lake Manyara National Park for your final game drive.
Explore its remarkable mix of groundwater forest, open grassland and lakeshore habitat while searching for elephants, giraffes, buffalo, monkeys, hippos and colourful birdlife.
After the game drive, enjoy lunch before beginning the journey back to Arusha, bringing your five-day northern Tanzania safari to a close.
